What You Need to Know

  • You are welcome to mix and match modalities and test out comprehensively or only in the modalities you are most interested in. Mat and Reformer are foundational; all other modalities can be added on.
  • You may choose to complete only Mat or only Reformer training and test out in that modality alone. Adding Advanced Reformer is optional. During the test out, you will be assessed only on the modalities you choose to study. We recommend testing out for all modalities at the same time, so waiting to test out until all programs and required hours are completed.
  • It is beneficial to have at least 20 Pilates classes completed before beginning the training. This is not required if you have prior experience teaching other movement modalities or demonstrate a strong aptitude for teaching. Once you sign up for the training Everbalance will offer you a discounted student rate for your drop-in classes ($25 instead of $39 – you can pay as you go).

  • If you complete a test out, you will receive the Certification, however you may begin teaching clients before your Certification is issued.
  • If you choose not to take the tests, you may describe yourself as Mixed Method trained but not certified. You may only state that you are certified after successfully passing both the written and practical exams.
  • You will be required to complete practical hours between weekend trainings and after the program concludes. These hours include personal practice, observation, and teaching, all of which must be completed and submitted before your test out.
  • Everbalance supports you in completing your practical hours. You are welcome to use the studio space and to ask for guidance, feedback, and training partners throughout your training.
  • The Mixed Method is listed as a preferred Program with NPCP. For those seeking Pilates National Certification our Comprehensive training will be a perfect fit. Once you are Comprehensively certified with The Mixed Method, you can sit for NPCP written exam and receive your NPCP certification upon passing it.

Meet the Instructors

Shauna Smith Yates

After 14 years in the industry and countless courses in yoga, barre, Pilates, and other methods, we’ve learned that the quality of any training has always been deeply influenced by the expertise and energy of the Master Trainer. We are fortunate to welcome Shauna as a visiting Master Trainer for the weekend sessions of the Certification! She is truly exceptional, and we are lucky to have her share her knowledge with us at Everbalance.

Shauna Smith Yates – Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher | STOTT PILATES® Certified | Certified Neuro-Somatic Intelligence Coach | Rock Steady Boxing Coach

Shauna received her full Stott Pilates certification in 2001 and became an Instructor Trainer for the method from 2002-2019. She is a Master Trainer and was Director of Education for Juvo Board, as well as, a Master Teacher for Art of Smart Movement teaching Core Barre, Core Reform, Core Suspend and AIS training.

She holds additional certifications from the National Pilates Certification Program, Precision Nutrition, PaddleFit, and Rock Steady Boxing. Shauna has studied Pilates for Neurological Conditions and is studying to become certified in the Z Health method of neurological training. She has also recently completed her Neuro Somatic Intelligence coaching certification to assist clients in better meeting their goals through trauma-informed teaching with applied neurology to create lasting transformation.

Shauna was honored to be nominated as one of 417 Magazine’s Wellness Warriors in 2013, was a 2017 Springfield Business Journal’s 40 under 40 recipient, and a member of Leadership Springfield’s class 30.
